a.) HISTORICAL TOUR OF BURUNDI, RUVUBU NATIONAL PARK, LOCAL FISHERMEN.

Day 1:
Arrive Bujumbura

Half day tour in Bujumbura, of visit of the Living museum (Musee vivant), visit of Buyenzi muslim city with its different actvities mecanics,local general goods market ,Belvedere Climb offering a nice view of Bujumbura city and Lake Tanganyika,Independance hero mounument.

Dinner and overnight at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

Day 2:
Cultural Tour of Bujumbura Morning, we visit Rusizi national park where a possible boat tour in Rusizi river can let you explore closer the hippo , numerous birds and the joining point between Rusizi River and Lake Tanganyika.After we visit explorers Memorial, a huge rock in the Suburbs of Bujumbura commemorating the meeting between explorers Stanley and Livingstone. A visit to a local general goods market, the craft centre and downtown Bujumbura. Dinner and overnight at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

Dda 3:
Gitega – Gishora

After breakfast visit of the drum sanctuary of Gishora. Gishora is one of the famous drum sites of Burundi. Gishora is perched on the top of a hill at 7km from the urban centre of Gitega The site of Gishora also houses two ritual drums that were never beaten : Ruciteme (the one for whom we clear the forest) and Murimirwa (the one for whom we cultivate). The two names are intimately linked to the farming vocation and refer clearly to the fertility, characteristic of the king. We have also ordinary drums which the Batimbo could beat on special occasions of the country.

Visit the drum sanctuary of Gishora to relive the cultural tradition of Burundi which is becoming scarcer. The site recreates an architectural complex of Royal palace, rarely found elsewhere in the country. Get there a lot of information will be provided by Mr Antime who has travelled a lot of countries across the world exhibiting the image of Burundi with his drum.

Here drummers performance can be watched . Lunch at Gitega city .After lunch ,visit of the city .Gitega is the second largest town of the country, with its typical colonial architecture. It hosts the National Museum with its ethnographic and archaeological collections

Dinner and overnight at Tamotel or Helena Hotel

Day 4:
Ruvubu National Park After breakfast head to Ruvubu National Park. The lower valley of Ruvubu river is an open savannah, with swamps and forests. Among the animals in this area, you might see antelopes, buffaloes, monkeys and there are listed over 425 birds’ species. The river is home to large number of hippos and crocodiles. The national park offers possibilities of nature walks and sightseeing especially in the Northern sector. Packed lunch. In the evening return to Gitega, for dinner and overnight at Tamotel or Helena Hotel .

Day 5:
Nyanza and Kigwena Forest After breakfast, drive southwards to the region of Nyanza, characterized by the large palm trees plantations and the production of oil. Visit the sites of the local palm oil production. Stop over in Kigwena Forest reserve for a nature walk. You might see monkeys including the owl faced monkeys and baboons, many birds’ species

Lunch ,visit of the local fishermen near the Hotel .

Dinner and overnight at Saga Nyanza Resort .

Day 6:
After breakfast ,visit of the Hot springs of Mugara The hot springs of Mugara comprise two descending sources that come out the ground in hot gushes to slide down the steep slopes of the rocky site, before forming a true basin far downstream of their course and then continue their itinerary mixed with another source of natural water in the common passage that will channel them to the lake Tanganyika, their last outlet.

An authentic hot (swimming) pool with 48 degree Celsius, this basin is acknowledged by the neighbouring and even distant population since time immemorial for its therapeutic quality against rheumatism and indigestion.

After visit of hot springs ,we take our direction to Bujumbura , stop over at Blue Bay Resort where a time of fishing can be spent ,with an appropriate boat and other equipment .

Lunch at Blue Bay Resort and drive to Bujumbura for Dinner and Overnight at Hotel club du lac Tanganyika Hotel .

Day 7:
Airport transfer

 


 

b.) CITY TOUR OF BUJUMBURA, BIRDING TOUR , KARERA FALLS, HISTORICAL TOUR: GISHORA DRUMS SANCTUARY.

Day1:

Day 2:

Morning, we visit Karera Falls is a famous waterfall of Burundi and is one of the popular Burundi tourist attractions. Burundi is a famous African destination and attracts a lot of tourist worldwide,After Karera falls we take the Direction leading us in the centre of the Country at Gitega , Lunch at Gitega ,after the lunch Gitega city tour there we visit the national museum , Gitega city tour,Catholic Location of Mushasha , Overnight at Helena Hotel or Tamotel –Gitega

Day 3:

Day 4:
Our trip continues with visit to a local fishermen at Rumonge port at 70 km in the South of Bujumbura .Stop over at Saga Resha resort the former Mauss castle . The trip continues to Nyanza , characterized by the large palm trees plantations and the production of oil. Visit of the local fishermen . Lunch at Saga Nyanza where a local Agasimbo dancers of Makamba can perform .

Drive back to Bujumbura for overnight at Club du Lac Tanganyika Hotel

Day 5:
Birds watching tour -Kirundo

On the road leading to Kirundo, we will stop not far from Bugarama to see splendid tea plantations at Teza before to arrive at Kirundo, Lunch in the city center .

After lunch visit of the birds lakes .Kirundo a region of extensive depressions dotted with many lakes and abounding in bird life.It is an area of great scenic beauty where the visitor may discover, by canoe, such lakes as Cohoha, the bird Lake,renowed for its ornithological reserve ; and other lakes like Kacamirinda and Kanzigiri.

Dinner at Kirundo and overnight at the city Hotel .

Day 6:
After breakfast ,drive back to Bujumbura ,lunch at Hotel club du lac ,and enjoy its facilities swimming pool ,gym , sauna .
